Landing pages are for displaying content in lists

Landing pages aggregate (or bring together) content types that group together into listings. Note that landing page titles will be listed in your website's search results, however the panel content in placed panel panes will not.

When you add a news content type, it will automatically be added to the news landing page. When you create a new Person content type, it will automatically be added to the people landing page... and so on with each type of content.

How to edit a landing page

Click the Customize this page at the bottom of your browser window.

What is the difference between a basic page and a landing page?

Review the differences before editing, as different pages are edited differently. If you don't see the edit tab, you are probably looking at a landing page as described above.
