How to create sub menus for People

Sub menus for People are typically used to show lists of people who are in a particular category. Before adding a menu, be sure your Person Category's taxonomy has more than one term.

When you tag a person in a category, they will automatically appear on the sub-menu page of that category.

Method 1: Add an Automatic Pane

When adding the People categories pane, anytime you add a new taxonomy term, the pane will update with a link to the people categorized with that term.

  1. Select Customize this page. Then click the plus symbol to add a new Pane.
  2. Select People and choose a Pane to add. Click Add
  3. Choose either People categories (with hierarchy) OR People categories (without hierarchy)
  4. Click Save to save the View.
  5. Click Save again to save the page.

Method 2: Add Menu Items

Use this method if you wish to have greater control over the way that each list of people displays. For example, you want People in category A to show photographs but you want People in category B to not show photographs.

  1. Create a new Landing Page or edit an existing page.
  2. Check the checkbox for "Provide a menu link" and place the link under the appropriate parent.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Add a new Pane to it. Do this by selecting Customize this page. Then click the plus symbol to add a new Pane.
  5. Select People and choose a Pane to add. Click Add
  6. Change the Settings to only show people in a category, if desired.
  7. Click Save to save the View.
  8. Click Save again to save the page.
